BlackBerry PlayBook discounted by $200

The BlackBerry Playbook seems to be one of the tablets that has felt the sting of the recently announced Amazon Kindle Fire. So much so that Staples, Office Depot and Best Buy have slashed the prices of RIM's tablet by $200.

This means that the 16GB model will cost you $299, while the 64GB model will set you back $499.

You can buy the BlackBerry PlayBook from the retailer of your choice using the links which follow

Office Depot and Staples customers will have one catch they will have to deal with. Only $100 will be instantly deducted. If you purchase the device from Office Depot the remainder will be in the form of a gift card and Staples will match the sum through mail-in rebate.

However if you choose to purchase it from BestBuy you get the full discount directly.

The BlackBerry PlayBook has plagued with poor sales since it was launched. Mainly blamed on the poor software which lacks some much needed features like a mail client, calendar or contacts manager. While RIM has been preparing an update to their software competition in the tablet market continues to grow and the price reduction maybe what the PlayBook needs to try and play catch up.
