MWC 2011 award winners announced

The winners for the Global Mobile Awards has been announced. Some phone manufacturers were honored alongside several software developers. For a full list of the winners and the GSMA judges' comments head over to the awards website.

Some worthy mentions follow:

• Best Mobile Device - Apple iPhone, For it's sharp screen, build materials and its phenomenal ecosystem, for apps and their developers.
• Device Manufacturer of the Year - HTC, The company built itself up from obscurity with fresh branding and marketing and offers a solid portfolio across software platforms. Their Android offerings stand out the most, especially the HTC Desire. HTC has also been commended for their good customer service.
• App of the Year (iOS) - Rovio, Angry Birds
• Best Mobile App - Rovio, Angry Birds
• Best Google App - Google Maps
• Best BlackBerry App - BlackBerry Messenger
• Best Nokia App - Herocraft & InnerActive, Zum Zum game.
